Q: Can you tell me more about the history of Dynamo Water Polo?
A: Yes. Team name and host facility changes aside, DWPC began in 1990. Please follow
this link to learn more about us: dynamoswimclub.com/polo/aboutus.shtml
Q: Can anyone play for Dynamo Water Polo Club?
A: Yes. We require no prior water polo experience, although it helps to be at least a
decent swimmer. Our roster of approximately 30-40 members includes players of all ages
(mostly post-college), both genders (mostly male) and skill levels. Members must keep
current with dues and USWP membership to participate.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: There no charge to come try water polo for a couple of practices. Members pay monthly
dues of $40 to pay for our pool rental, equipment, etc. Dues also include unlimited access
to the Dynamo Swim Center, including the recently renovated weight room. DSC also has
treadmills and wireless internet access!
DWPC athletes must join USA Water Polo (https://webpoint.usawaterpolo.com/wp/memberships/join.asp ).
(Our USWP club # is 971.) There are several annual membership options that start at $55.
USWP membership benefits include practice and event insurance, Scoreboard subscription and
supports development at the grassroots and Olympic levels.
We charge for tournaments based on participation. As an example, if 10 players compete
in a tournament with a $300 entry fee they all owe $30. Individuals also pay for housing,
transportation, food, etc.
Q: When are practices? How often do you practice?
A: DWPC practices 3 times in a normal week:
- Tuesday: 8-9:30PM
- Thursday: 8-9:30PM
- Sunday: 10-Noon
Take a look at our
practice calendar for the latest practice information.
Q: Where do you practice?
A: We practice at the Dynamo Swim Center in Chamblee (NE metro Atlanta). DSC is just
10 minutes from downtown Atlanta and convenient to I-85. Follow this link for directions and
address:
dynamoswimclub.com/facilities.asp
Q: How long is your season?
A: We practice and compete from early January to mid-November. Exact dates vary each year.
Q: How many tournaments do you play each year?
A: DWPC is the most active “open” (no age restriction) water polo club in the South. We
average approximately one competition every 6-8 weeks. Follow this link to see our competition
schedule for the year: dynamoswimclub.com/polo/competitions.shtml
DWPC rarely “limits” a tournament roster. This means any DWPC athlete who wants to compete
in a tournament may so long as space permits. If we enter multiple DWPC teams in a single tournament
we usually use a “split squad” method, with balance across the teams.
Q: How good is DWPC?
A: We win about 3/4 of the games we play. We do well against most teams in the S.E. United
States. We recently began to travel outside the S.E. more frequently to face new challenges.

Q: I want to start water polo at my Atlanta-area pool. Can DWPC help?
A: Yes. We conduct water polo clinics on an as-requested basis for youth centers, USS
swim teams, high school swim teams and anyone else who asks. Please contact DWPC team member
Mark Lefkow (mlefkow@nallmiller.com) to start the conversation.
We can also provide coaching assistance, loan equipment, provide scrimmage time and even
officials. Again, start with Mark.
