(12/4) Did you attend the National meet this weekend at Georgia Tech? Dynamo hosted the event with Tech - and over 1000 nationally ranked swimmers came from across the country. 5 American Records were set and one US Open record was recorded. It was the most exciting swimming event in the South since the 1996 Olympics.
Hosting this meet was a huge undertaking - all spear-headed by Ed Saltzman. He is a non-parent Board Member and a Georgia Swimming official who has been working on this production with USA Swimming and Georgia Tech for about a year. Next time you see him running a meet at Dynamo, please say thanks…he put us all on the National map. Then volunteer to help next year when we get to host again. I think USA Swimming and the rest of the country have caught on to the treasures we have here at Dynamo.
Ed of course did not work alone - he was able to "turn over" 2 critical components - Anita Damon organized the volunteer workforce. The "red shirts" were incredible - always there, always helpful, always smiling. I hope you had the opportunity to be a part of this fabulous "red shirt" army.
And speaking of fabulous - the other critical component - Hospitality- was organized by Susan Kase and Kaye Browning. Hundreds of coaches and Officials enjoyed the plentiful southern fare presented in gracious southern style. Susan and Kaye virtually ran a restaurant - complete with outside café tables. They literally fueled the meet for 96 hours.
Of course there were many others who worked hard to plan and implement this event…but these four: Ed, Anita, Susan and Kaye were the essential components. They worked on behalf of Dynamo to bring the stage to Atlanta. They are American Record holders in my book. Please share your thanks and appreciation.
