The Dynamo Swim Club is very proud
of its swimmers` accomplishments since the club`s inception in
1964. From winning state, regional and national team titles to
setting national age group records to achieving American records
and world ranked times, Dynamo swimmers have enjoyed success at
every level of competitive swimming.
Since the early 1980s Dynamo
swimmers have represented the United States at the Olympics, World
Championships, the Pan American Games, Pan Pacific Games, The
Goodwill Games, and the World University Games. In the spring of
1993 and every year since 2000, Dynamo was represented on the
National Junior Team in Paris, France, Barcelona Spain and Brisbane
Australia. In the summer of 2001 and 2002 Dynamo swimmers
participated in the World Championships, Pan Pacific Championships
and Goodwill Games. In summer 2003 five swimmers will represent the
US at the Pan Am Championships in Santo Domingo and World
University Games in Daegu, Korea.
The Dynamo Swim Club continues to
score well as a team at the USA SWIMMING Senior and Junior National
Championships. In 1989 the Dynamo women won the Team title and
combined with the men for a second place finish at the USA SWIMMING
Senior National Championships. In 1998 the team won the combined
and men`s titles at the 1998 Southeastern Long Course Junior
National Championships. In Spring 2000 the Dynamo women placed
second, and in Summer 2001 and 2002 third, at the National Champs.
In both the Spring and Summer 20001 Nationals Dynamo won the 18
& Under title.
Over the years, Dynamo Swim Club
has been the top age group program in Georgia Swimming with
numerous state champions and record holders. National recognition
has also been given to Dynamo swimmers for achieving National Age
Group Top 16 rankings. Furthermore, Dynamo has consistently had
more Scholastic All Americans than any other team in the
country.
In 1998, the Dynamo Swim Club was
runner-up for the Walt Schlueter Stroke Technique Competition. The
team has taken first place honors in 1992, 1996and 1997 and has
finished as the runner up team in 1993, 1994 and 1995. This since
discontinued competition was sponsored by the American Swimming
Coaches Association to recognize swimmers and teams with
exceptional stroke technique. Numerous Dynamos have been invited to
Colorado Springs to participate in the USA SWIMMING Select Camps as
well as participate in the USA SWIMMING Olympic Festival.
The Dynamo tradition of excellence
serves as a foundation upon which to build even greater success in
the future. Improvements can be noted almost every year. During the
past two years our swimmers broke over 70 different team records,
some repeatedly. We look forward to seeing our swimmers continue
their dominance at the local level and further their achievements
at the regional, national, and international levels.
